Face Gesture Controls

Goal:

Find the few facial gestures that feel most natural and reliable for you. Everyone’s expressions are different — PlayAbility helps you identify which ones suit your range of motion and comfort best.

Overview:

Facial gestures let you trigger any action using expressions like smiles, eyebrow raises, or mouth movements.

PlayAbility recognizes over 50 distinct facial landmarks, each of which can act as a digital button or even an analog trigger.

Examples:

  • mouthSmileLeft → A button
  • browInnerUp → Jump (Spacebar)
  • jawOpen → Fire (Right Trigger)

Tips for Best Results:

  • Use bright, even lighting and keep your face centered on the webcam.
  • Start by testing a few gestures — keep only the ones that work easily for you.
  • Adjust threshold values if a gesture feels too sensitive or too hard to trigger.
  • Re-calibrate if you change position or lighting conditions.
