Map Inputs to Mouse Actions
Mouse actions support desktop navigation and games that accept mouse input. The available action determines whether PlayAbility expects a digital trigger, a continuous motion source, or an analog axis.
Before you begin
- Load an editable profile.
- Choose a safe application or empty area of the desktop for the first test.
- Keep a physical mouse or another reliable way to run Release All while tuning toggle or continuous actions.
Map a click or double-click
- Open Mapping and confirm the intended profile is active.
- Select Add actions.
- Select Mouse.
- Select Left Click, Right Click, Middle Click, or a corresponding double-click action.
- Select the Add button showing the number of selected actions.
- On the new row, select Select a trigger.
- Choose an existing compatible trigger, or select Create a new trigger + and configure one.
- Choose an Action Mode. Use Default to hold a mouse button, Short Press for a normal click, or Toggle only when the button should remain held.
- Select Save.
Use the dedicated double-click action when the target requires a double-click. It sends the two clicks as one action.
Map scrolling
- Select Add actions, open Mouse, and select Scroll Up or Scroll Down.
- Add the action and assign a trigger.
- Choose a scroll mode:
- Default scrolls continuously while the trigger is active.
- Toggle starts continuous scrolling on one activation and stops it on the next.
- Single Tick sends one scroll tick per activation.
- For Default or Toggle, adjust Set scroll speed in pixels from 1 to 1500 pixels.
- Select Save.
The scroll-distance control is disabled in Single Tick mode because that mode always sends one tick.
Map pointer movement
Choose the movement action that matches the trigger:
- Mouse Move provides continuous cursor control from a compatible Head Motion Mouse or cursor-stabilizer trigger.
- Mouse X axis and Mouse Y axis convert compatible analog axes, including physical gamepad axes, into relative cursor movement.
- Mouse Left, Mouse Right, Mouse Up, and Mouse Down move continuously in one direction from a digital trigger. Adjust Set mouse speed in pixels in the mapping.
To configure movement:
- Select Add actions, open Mouse, and add the required movement action or axes.
- Select Select a trigger on each new row.
- Choose one of the compatible trigger types offered by the editor.
- Adjust the movement range, deadzone, direction, or speed shown for that mapping.
- Select Save.
The editor filters out trigger types that cannot drive the selected movement action.
Move the pointer to an exact position
- Select Add actions, open Mouse, and add Mouse Position.
- Assign a digital trigger.
- Under Mouse Position, select Detect Position.
- Move the pointer to the required location and hold it still for one second.
- Confirm the recorded X and Y coordinates.
- Select Test Position to check the destination.
- Select Save.
You can also enter X and Y coordinates directly. The valid range is based on the display detected by PlayAbility.
Enable and verify mouse output
- Turn on Main Output using PlayAbility's play/pause control.
- Confirm that Mouse Out is active in the Controls area.
- If using head-controlled pointer movement, also confirm that Head Mouse Output is active.
- Activate the trigger in a safe test area.
- Confirm that the button releases, scrolling stops, or movement returns to rest as expected.
- Test the result in the target game or application.
Troubleshooting and limitations
The mapping responds but the pointer does not
- Turn on Main Output and Mouse Out.
- For head mouse, also turn on Head Mouse Output and confirm face detection is running.
- Check whether foreground-app rules are blocking effective output.
- Test in a desktop application to isolate a game-specific input issue.
Mouse Move cannot use the trigger you want
Continuous Mouse Move accepts only compatible motion sources. Use Mouse Left, Mouse Right, Mouse Up, or Mouse Down for a digital trigger, or map Mouse X axis and Mouse Y axis from compatible analog axes.
Scrolling does not stop
The mapping is probably in Toggle mode. Activate the trigger again, or run Release All. Use Default if scrolling should stop as soon as the trigger becomes inactive.
A mouse button remains held
Run Release All. Then change a Toggle mapping to Default or Short Press unless a latched drag is intentional.
Mouse Position goes to the wrong place
- Run Detect Position again on the display you intend to use.
- Confirm the X and Y values with Test Position.
- Re-record the position after changing display arrangement, resolution, or scaling.
Movement is too fast, slow, or unstable
Edit the mapping and adjust its speed, movement range, or deadzone. For gaze or head-controlled pointing, configure cursor stabilization separately before increasing speed.
The target game ignores mouse output
Verify the action on the desktop first. If it works there but not in the game, the game may block simulated mouse input because of its input API, exclusive-fullscreen mode, or anti-cheat.
