Accounts, Pro Features and Offline Use
A PlayAbility account stores your session and enables account-dependent features such as profile sharing and subscription management. Pro Edition adds multi-profile editing tools, backups, extra themes, and time-limited offline access.
Create an account or sign in
An internet connection is required to create an account, sign in, use social login, request a password reset, or receive a passwordless login link.
- Open PlayAbility.
- Choose Log in or Sign up.
- Continue with Google, Facebook, or email.
- For email, choose either:
- Use a password and enter the password.
- Log in without password, then select Email me a Log-In Link.
- When creating an account, accept the terms and complete any email verification.
If a password-reset request matches an account, PlayAbility sends a reset link to that email address.
Review your account and subscription
- Open Settings.
- Select Your account.
- Select Click to view your user data to reveal the email and display name.
- Review Subscription Details:
- Status shows Active or Inactive.
- Active subscriptions also show the type and expiry date.
- Select Open Customer Portal to manage billing or the subscription in your web browser.
The same tab includes My Shared Profiles, where signed-in users can review profiles they have shared.
Upgrade to Pro Edition
- Open PlayAbility Pro Edition from the sidebar.
- Review the current offer in the in-app page.
- Select Open in Browser if you prefer to continue on the PlayAbility website.
- Complete the subscription with the same email address used in the desktop app.
- Return to Settings → Your account and confirm that the subscription status is Active.
Current Pro features in the desktop app include:
- Editing and maintaining multiple profiles instead of one free editable profile.
- Renaming and duplicating profiles.
- Importing and exporting a full profile backup.
- Selecting additional color themes.
- Using PlayAbility offline for up to 30 days after online validation.
Profile sharing requires a signed-in account. It is separate from the Pro-only full-backup feature.
Understand the free profile limit
A free account has one editable profile. When creating another profile, PlayAbility may ask to replace the current editable profile. Profiles retained beyond the editable allowance can appear as Read-Only.
Upgrade to Pro Edition to edit multiple profiles and use the Pro profile-management actions.
Prepare Pro Edition for offline use
- Connect the computer to the internet.
- Sign in to PlayAbility.
- Open Settings → Your account and confirm that the subscription is Active.
- Let PlayAbility complete its online account and subscription check.
- Keep the stored session on this device; do not sign out before going offline.
PlayAbility stores an offline authorization for an active subscriber. It is valid for up to 30 days and is refreshed after a successful online authentication and subscription check.
Use PlayAbility offline
- Start PlayAbility with the previously validated Pro account.
- Use local profiles, mappings, controls, and saved settings normally.
- Reconnect to the internet before the 30-day authorization expires so PlayAbility can refresh the account and subscription.
Cloud-dependent operations such as signing in, refreshing account details, sharing profiles, and cloud synchronization require an internet connection.
What happens to a free account offline
When PlayAbility starts offline without a valid Pro offline authorization, it shows No Internet Connection.
- Select Try to Reconnect after restoring the connection.
- Select Upgrade to PlayAbility Pro Edition to review offline access.
The account cannot be created or authenticated while offline.
Sign out
- Open Settings → Your account.
- Find Session.
- Select Sign Out.
Signing out ends the session on this device. Sign in online again before attempting offline use.
Verify account and offline readiness
- While online, open Settings → Your account.
- Confirm that the expected email is displayed.
- If you use Pro Edition, confirm that Subscription Details says Active.
- Restart PlayAbility once while still online and confirm that the session is restored.
- Before travelling or disconnecting for an extended period, briefly test startup without a network connection.
Troubleshooting
An active subscription is not shown
- Confirm that PlayAbility is online.
- Check that the desktop account uses the same email as the subscription.
- Reopen Your account to refresh the status.
- Open the Customer Portal and verify that the subscription is active.
Pro features are still locked
- Confirm that Subscription Details says Active.
- Restart PlayAbility after the account status refreshes.
- If the wrong account is signed in, sign out and use the subscribed account.
Offline mode asks for a subscription
- Reconnect to the internet.
- Sign in and confirm the active subscription.
- Allow PlayAbility to validate the subscription before disconnecting again.
- If more than 30 days have passed since online validation, reconnect to refresh offline authorization.
A login link or reset email is missing
- Check spam or junk folders.
- Confirm the email address was typed correctly.
- Wait briefly before requesting another message.
- Remember that the reset screen does not reveal whether an email address has an account.
Limitations
- Offline authorization is device-specific and expires after up to 30 days.
- Signing out removes the usable session on that device.
- Pricing, billing intervals, and offers are shown on the current Pro page and Customer Portal rather than in this guide.
